In May 2006, Diane saw a CBS national news story about a lady in Indiana who had a life-long dream fulfilled by riding in a racecar. Never Too Late, a senior wish organization in Indianapolis, was granting her wish. "Instantly, I knew this was what I wanted to do, for I’ve had a passion for senior citizens my entire life."
Diane e-mailed Bob Haverstick, president of Never Too Late, and asked him about starting a similar organization here in Memphis. "Bob has been so kind and gracious in helping Forever Young get started. Many people are possessive of their ideas and want to keep their successes to themselves, but Bob opened his heart to our organization, and as you know, we are now in existence because of his love for seniors."The name of Forever Young speaks for itself. No matter how old we get on the outside, we still feel like teenagers on the inside. Our bones may ache from time to time, and our skin may become loose, but if we close our eyes, we see a young person in our minds. Therefore, we truly believe Forever Young perfectly portrays what we are trying to accomplish in our senior wish organization - that there is a lot of living left to do!
We want to change the image of aging and redefine it with self-confidence, respect, and a fun-filled life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, “They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future”. Many may find it difficult to apply this verse to seniors, but they have great value and deserve hope with a rewarding future. Our organization and Memphis celebrate senior citizens! We look forward to making their dreams come true.
