Decorated WW II veteran Clovis Williams' wish was to fly to Phoenix to visit his ailing brother, whom he had not seen in more than a decade. To make the wish more special, Forever Young arranged to have a party the night before his departure with family and friends in the community to honor him. Little did we know what was in store for Clovis.
On November 26, intruders broke into his home and robbed him at gunpoint. Mr. Williams had $200 for the trip, and it was stolen along with his wallet. Even though Mr. Clovis had been through a lot, he said, "I have to go ahead with my plans to see my brother because if I don't, I'll never see him again." The newspaper reporter who had done a story on Mr. Williams' wish went around the community collecting funds for his trip and presented him with $350. It was like the closing scene from "It's A Wonderful Life." Clovis said, "I will remember this kindness for the rest of my life."
The trip to Phoenix was perfect, and Mr. Williams had a wonderful time visiting his brother and nephews. When Clovis arrived home, he said, "I had the time of my life. It meant so much to have my wish fulfilled that in return, I want to help others."
Special thanks go out to Bob Haverstick/ Never Too Late for joining us in fulfilling this wish.
